Diversity & Inclusion isn’t just about championing people of color. It’s about celebrating ALL of the rich cultures that make up our communities. Whether it has to do with faith, age, sexual identity—or parity in the workplace… It’s our differences that make things interesting! Whenever I start to find myself in my own “comfort zone,” I do whatever I can to push myself out of it and connect with others who’s lives and cultures may be completely different than mine. At first it feels like work to push myself like that, but the rewards are incredible! It opens up your whole world and lets in all the good stuff. #ProgressIsPlural A post shared by The Junior League (@juniorleague) on Nov 17, 2017 at 9:23am PST

Diversity & Inclusion is a tough topic. That’s why it tends to remain in the dark. Because it’s easier to choose NOT to get it… not to look beyond our own cultures, beyond our own comfort zones. It’s what gives rise to all the divisiveness and “us and them” talk you hear in the news these days. Yes, it’s easier to push aside a difficult topic, but I don’t think we want that. I think we want to love one another. We just don’t know how to bridge the divides. The fact is, we can’t conquer what we don’t confront, and it takes brave leadership in our communities to stand up and say: “No, we’re going to make this happen. We’re going to foster love, not hate.” That’s what diversity & inclusion is truly about. #ProgressIsPlural | 📷 by @khrystyana A post shared by The Junior League (@juniorleague) on Nov 17, 2017 at 9:45am PST
